10-Year-Old Helps Deliver Her Baby Sister! Photo: NBC / KSN.com
We think this fifth grader might make a good nurse or doctor in the future! 10-year-old Stephanie Zamora, from Arlington, Texas, helped deliver her baby sister in the car on the way to the hospital. According to KSN.com, when her mother, Sandra Zamora, went into labor, the family immediately got in the car, but there wasn’t enough time. Stephanie told news reporters, “I didn’t know what to do because the baby was coming out, so, I just got the baby out.” She called 911 and even translated the directions from dispatchers to her parents, who speak Spanish. She helped deliver her sister in the backseat of the car. When her sister came out, Stephanie made sure that the cord wasn’t wrapped around the baby’s neck and put her in her mother’s arms.
Mother and baby turned out fine. And this was perfect training for Stephanie, who says she wants to be a nurse when she gets older.
