Academy Award winner Natalie Portman decided to ditch her vegan diet now that she’s pregnant. The Black Swan star became a vegan in 2009 after reading Jonathan Safran Foer’s Eating Animals, but it’s not as if she’s gone totally off the wagon. She’s now a vegetarian, which means she’s still not eating meat, but animal products like milk and eggs are a-okay. “I was listening to my body to have eggs and dairy and that sort of stuff,” she said in a phone interview with the Q100 Bert Show in Atlanta. Aside from health-conscious reasons like making sure she’s getting the proper levels of iron and B12 vitamins, she admitted that it was hard to keep up with her cravings on a strictly vegan diet. “If you’re not eating eggs, then you can’t have cookies or cake from regular bakeries, which can become a problem when that’s all you want to eat,” she said.
