Michelle Williams Missed Her Oscar Nod Because She Was… Well, Being a Mom
Photo: Time / YouTube Being a potential Oscar nominee doesn’t excuse you from mom duties. That’s especially true for Michelle Williams, who told Today show anchor Ann Curry, that she almost forgot that the nominations were happening that day. She was busy getting her six-year-old daughter Matilda ready for school -- making breakfast and putting on her snowsuit. She only found out about her Best Actress nomination for her portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn when she met her friend for breakfast after dropping off Matilda. “It slipped my mind because I was in a rush and in the routine of the day,” she said.
Michelle didn’t mind almost missing the big moment. She even gushed to Ann more about Matilda than her Oscar nom, “She gives me balance, and I know that any risks that I take in my work are actually safe, because nothing really bad can happen there. My success as a parent matters most to me.”
Aww, that’s cute! Good luck at the Oscars, Michelle!
