Top 5 Weird Rumors About Beyoncé’s Baby’s Name

Photo: PR Photos / The Bump

What’s really behind the name Beyoncé and Jay-Z chose for their new baby? These are the wacky theories you won’t believe.

Her middle name is her first name.

When the baby news first broke to the Twitter-verse, the trending topic was “Ivy Blue Carter.” But finally the real name came out. Sorry Tweeters. It’s actually “Blue Ivy Carter.”

She’s named after Jay-Z’s albums.

So why Blue? Well, Jay-Z does have a trilogy of albums called The Blueprint. And, some say it’s his favorite color. (It’s also supposedly the favorite color or 40 percent of people worldwide though, and that’s the first baby we’ve heard of named after it.)

Ivy is really IV.

No, we’re not talking about the bag of fluids Beyoncé may have been hooked up to while giving birth. We’re talking about the Roman numeral for 4. Beyoncé is said to love the number -- her birthday is September 4, Jay-Z’s is December 4, and the couple’s anniversary is April 4. Beyoncé even named one of her albums 4.

She’s been dubbed “Illuminati’s Very Youngest”

So not too long after the first and middle name mix-up came the trending topic “Illuminati’s Very Youngest” (which has the acronym IVY). What the heck does that mean? Well, the Illuminati is supposedly a secret society that some highly successful people have been said to be a part of -- Eminem, Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Kanye West, Lil Wayne and yes, Jay-Z and Beyoncé have all been rumored members. But name your baby after it? We don’t know about that one. If the Illuminati does exist, isn’t it supposed to be kept secret?

She’s the daughter… of Satan?

Okay, so there’s the claim that Blue stands for Born Living Under Evil, which is kind of a stretch, don’t you think? Then, some began to claim that Blue Ivy spelled backwards -- Eulb Yvi -- is the name of one of Lucifer’s daughters in Latin. (So therefore, Jay-Z must be the devil?) But we can’t find confirmation that Eulb Yvi means anything, Latin or not. So sorry conspiracy-theorists. It seems totally made up.

Congratulations to the whole family on Blue Ivy's Birth!
