Baby

Your Baby Is 46 Weeks Old!

If you're breastfeeding and think it's time to wean, talk with your doctor about introducing cow's milk into baby's diet. Though the American Academy of Pediatrics recommends breastfeeding for up to a year, sometimes it's just not possible and weaning can take time. When you wean baby is totally up to you and other moms can offer some great advice if you do want to continue breastfeeding at this point.

Giving baby some space
Books are very good for baby, so experiment with different ones. Bright colors, interactive features, and durability (baby likes to pull, grab, and bite) are all qualities to look for when shopping or borrowing. It's okay to allow baby to explore around the house without you hovering; just check in and call his name every few minutes to make sure he's not getting into trouble. This way, he'll feel secure and independent.

To-do:
> Get tricks for giving baby medicine
> Distract baby on diaper table
> Save a ringlet of baby's hair

[ tip ] Make sure that whole milk dairy products (yogurt and cheeses) are part of baby's diet until he's two years old.
